Blind Assessment

A ready-to-drink bottled black coffee tested over ice. High-toned, cleanly fruit-forward, chocolaty. Apricot, dark chocolate, pink peppercorn, almond brittle, tamarind. Bittersweet in structure with a crisp, lively acidity; lightly syrupy mouthfeel. The richly sweet finish consolidates to dark chocolate and almond, with a hint of tamarind. Adding whole milk softens and harmonizes chocolate, nut and fruit.

Notes

This coffee tied for the second-highest rating in a tasting of ready-to-drink bottled black coffees for Coffee Review’s July 2018 tasting report. Sold in 12-ounce bottles. Prepared by the cold-brew concentrate method, which involves prolonged steeping of ground coffee in cold or room-temperature water and subsequent filtering to produce a concentrate that is then diluted. Contains no additives or ingredients other than coffee and water. The green coffee used to produce the tested beverage is a blend of Mexico Majomut and Peru Rutas del Inca coffees, both certified organically grown and fair trade, meaning they were purchased at no less than a minimum price determined by a certifying agency to be economically sustainable for farmers. Roast House is a small-batch, quality-focused roaster specializing in farm-direct organic-certified and fair trade certified coffees. Visit roasthousecoffee.com or call 509-995-6500 for more information.

Bottom Line

Lively, bright, rich yet refreshing, saturated with deeply expressed fruit and chocolate notes.
